Happy Birthday Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!

Category : geekTastic!, News, Pictures

tmnt-2

As a kid, I wanted to be Leonardo.  No, not the famous painter, observer, scientist and inventor. I wanted to be a gigantic sword wielding turtle versed in the art of Ninjutsu!

It’s hard to believe 25 years have gone by since the creation of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.  I came on board with the Turtles when the Saturday Morning Cartoon began to air.  The cartoon, of course, was based on the original comic book published by Mirage Studios in 1984.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles has spawned cartoons, 3 live action movies and 1 CG movie along with pajamas, bed sheets, toys and many other things that any mutant turtle loving kid could want.  A 2011 “re-imagining” has also been confirmed.

So, happy birthday Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael, Michelangelo, and Master Splinter! You all were a major part of my childhood and a source of massive nostalgia.  I’ll be in line in 2011 for the new flick with my blue bandanna and katana blades.
