Rating:
Directed By: Mabrouk El Mechri
Starring: Jean-Claude Van Damme
Plot Synopsis:
Between his tax problems and his legal battle with his wife for the custody of his daughter, these are hard times for the action movie star who finds that even Steven Seagal has pinched a role from him! In JCVD, Jean-Claude Van Damme returns to the country of his birth to seek the peace and tranquility he can no longer enjoy in the United States.
Review:
Can a movie change your perception of an aging actor? Bruce Campbell gave us fans an homage movie with My Name Is Bruce. Stallone brought back Rambo and Rocky Balboa. Mickey Rourke turned in a heart felt and amazing performance with The Wrestler. Who’s next? Schwartzenegger? Seagal? Nope. It’s Jean-Claude Van Damme. And he’s turned in the performance of a lifetime with JCVD.
From the article:
There has been a small outbreak of “zombism” in London due to mutation of the H1N1 virus into new strain: H1Z1.
Similar to a scare originally found in Cambodia back in 2005, victims of a new strain of the swine flu virus H1N1 have been reported in London.
Looks like we’re getting character posters for Quentin Tarantino’s WWII opus Inglourious Basterds one-by-one. Last week, Brad Pitt’s emerged. This week, we get a look at Eli Roth. I absolutely love how the marketing is being handled for this movie!
Inglourious Basterds is set to debut at the Cannes Film Festival in less than 2 weeks. The festival runs from May 13th to May 24th.
In honor of Unofficial Star Wars Day, I think it’s relevant to get on a little Prequels Vs. Original Trilogy topic. The topic at hand are Star Wars Legos. I love legos, today Gizmodo released a huge gallery of the history of Star Wars Legos since they started being created in 1999. These pictures came from a 10 year annivesary poster that is no longer available, but a book is on the way!
See the great article, along with some fun other posts at Gizmodo. Below I present the gallery sorted by Original Trilogy characters and Prequel/Clone Wars characters. I think the Original Trilogy Characters are the most inspired, but that’s just me! What do you think?

Not only does Steven Soderbergh’s new movie, The Girlfriend Experience, feature a surprisingly compelling performance from a porn adult film star (Sasha Grey), it looks like it will have it’s debut online, rather than the theater.
May 4th is “Unofficial Star Wars Day”
Celebrate by inserting Star Wars quotes into your daily routine!
Here are some other ideas to make your day more interesting:
Over the weekend I was monitoring the Twitter-verse and many of the critics and filmmakers I follow were bragging about seeing/or were on their way to seeing Star Trek. Unlike another tent-pole release (ahem) Paramount is letting critics and the press see the film a week (even 2 weeks) before the release this weekend (May 8, 2009).
Early reviews are geek-tastic, gushing, somersaulting, drooling and geek-gasming. And these reviews are from professional critics.
Wonder Woman thought she was all special with her Invisible Jet, that was until design student Sara Watson displayed her very own Invisible Škoda Fabia.
Made for $3,000 and based on the appendices of J.R.R. Tolkein’s masterpiece The Lord of the Rings, fan Chris Bouchard has created the fanfilm: The Hunt for Gollum. This follows Strider (Aragon) as he sets out to find the creature Gollum and discover the truth about the Ring.
I am impressed by the quality of this short film. Running 38 minutes long, it boasts some pretty impressive visuals. A few scenes, or pieces of scenes look taken from Peter Jackson’s trilogy, but incorporated really well. You can view trailer above and then the entire short film after the jump, or watch it in HD at thehuntforgollum.com.
