Executive produced by Tom Hanks, Steven Spielberg and Gary Goetzman, The Pacific is a follow up to the HBO Mini-series Band of Brothers (my favorite mini-series of all time). This looks epic, dramatic and emotional. I’ll never get sick of WWII movies/stories, so I already can’t wait to own the Blu-Ray!
No air times have been announced, but look for this on HBO in 2010. Can’t wait!!
Plot Synopsis:
Executive produced by Tom Hanks, Steven Spielberg and Gary Goetzman, the team behind the Emmy-winning 2001 HBO miniseries “Band of Brothers,” this epic ten-hour miniseries tracks the intertwined odysseys of three U.S. Marines – Robert Leckie (James Badge Dale), Eugene Sledge (Joe Mazzello) and John Basilone (Jon Seda) – across the vast canvas of the Pacific. The extraordinary experiences of these men and their fellow Marines take them from the first clash with the Japanese in the haunted jungles of Guadalcanal, through the impenetrable rain forests of Cape Gloucester, across the blasted coral strongholds of Peleliu, up the black sand terraces of Iwo Jima, through the killing fields of Okinawa, to the triumphant, yet uneasy, return home after V-J Day. Produced by HBO Miniseries in association with Playtone and DreamWorks Television, and scheduled to debut on HBO in early 2010.
With Twilight fever and True Blood, we’re on the verge of Vampire overload. However, Daybreakers looks pretty cool. Pretty much a Zombie movie with Vampires instead of Zombies along with a pretty awesome cast including Willem Dafoe, Ethan Hawke, Isabel Lucas and Sam Neill.
Plot Synopsis:
Edward Dalton is a researcher in the year 2019, in which an unknown plague has transformed the world’s population into vampires. As the human population nears extinction, vampires must capture and farm every remaining human, or find a blood substitute before time runs out. However, a covert group of vampires makes a remarkable discovery, one which has the power to save the human race. [TrailerAddict]
A great cast and the pairing of Jon Favreau and Vince Vaughn make me want to see this. Looks pretty funny.
Plot Synopsis:
Vince Vaughn, Jason Bateman, Jon Favreau, Malin Akerman, Kristin Davis, Kristen Bell and Faizon Love star in Universal Pictures’ upcoming comedy Couples Retreat. Based on an original idea of Vaughn’s, the comedy follows four Midwestern couples who embark on a journey to a tropical island resort. While one of the couples is there to work on their marriage, the other three set out to jet ski, spa and enjoy some fun in the sun. They soon discover that participation in the resort’s couples therapy is not optional. Suddenly, their group-rate vacation comes at a price. What follows is a hilarious look at real world problems faced by all couples. The film also stars Kali Hawk and Jean Reno. [TrailerAddict]
