Kick-Ass (2010)

IMDBAmazonNetflix

I went in to Kick-Ass with some hesitation.  Frankly, I'm getting tired of the "Super Hero" flick and find my interests moving in other directions.  However, Kick-Ass offered something a little different.  Namely, an R-rated sense of humor, violence and a 10 year old female assassin with a passion for bloodletting.  All this sounded promising and I kept my fingers crossed that Kick-Ass would help re-vitalize my interest in the Comic Book genre.

Kick-Ass was a blast.  It was everything and more that I had wanted it to be, and it also rose above all my expectations.  It also shows that in the hands of a capable director (in this case Matthew Vaughn) Comic Book movies can transcend the genre trappings and classified as just "Good Fucking Movie"

I pretty much love everything about this flick, from the acting to the irreverence and the sense of fun that was injected into the film.  The only thing lacking I found was that the story wasn't 100% compelling.  The character Kick-Ass was more of a catalyst to keep things moving, and not the central story arch I was expecting.

With all that sais, if you haven't seen Kick-Ass, you really should.  It's one of the better films of 2010 and one of the best Comic Book adaptations to come along since The Dark Knight, it's also everything Watchmen should have been.
