WTF? Homemade Wolverine Claws?
This is just a guess, but I think that Mr. “Real Wolverine Claws” doesn’t spend too much with the ladies. Case in point: this nameless MetaCafe user has created REAL Wolverine Claws that can actually do some damage. These “new and improved” claws release when the bicep is flexed.
The springs are quicker. It locks in the back position so it can be cocked and ready. It has a release for that lock near the bicep, so with it positioned just right flexing your bicep will actually release it. It also locks in the forward position so when you stab something the claws don’t retract on the track.
While somewhat cool, this also could be a cry for help. I’m no expert, but if my wife caught me building my own set of real Woverine blades, she’d be a bit concerned. And I most likely would spend my nights on the couch.
Reviews Are In: Wolverine is a Turd
Fox has tried to keep reviews from coming out, but they couldn’t stop the release date of May 1. X-Men Origins: Wolverine is finally out and critics have seen it. I don’t think Fox will be able to blame the work print leak for bad box office returns. Looks like they have another stinker on their hands. Is it at least better than X-men 3?
Read the reviews and make up your own mind.
Final Wolverine Version IS The Leaked Workprint (Pretty Much)
Remember when the X-Men Origins: Wolverine Workprint leaked? Tom Rothman, chairman of Twentieth Century Fox released a statement saying:
“The version that went out is unfinished. It’s about 10 minutes shorter, doesn’t have key scenes, it wasn’t edited, and none of the effects shots were in any remotely final form, It’s a complete misrepresentation of the film and is deeply unfair to the people who have worked on it for years.”
Well, press screenings have begun and Ain’t It Cool News reader, Veritas, was at one. He has a different story:
“Well, having seen the finished film, the mystery is solved: the workprint version IS in fact identical to the release print, sans effect and some audio work. It’s obvious that FOX is trying their darndest to keep this news from getting out, because it will eliminate most of the motivation for people who have seen the workprint to pay for a ticket.”
geekArticle! Exploring How Wolverine Leaked
“The ease with which a DVD can be ripped and disseminated makes it child’s play, and the ubiquity of laptops make it simpler and simpler for someone to rip a movie without even taking the disc off premises.”
[How Did X-Men Origins: Wolverine Get Leaked on the Internet? by Devin Faraci, Chud]
The leaked workprint of Wolverine turned a lot of heads over the weekend and into this week. There are still tons of stories swirling about this. From a prominent critic gloating about watching the pirated copy and losing his job, to studios upping their security, and the internet blog-o-sphere sticking up for a studio they normally rip on.
If anything, this is a game changer. Studios have to tighten their security. Above is a link to an article written by Chud’s Devin Faraci on the probability of how this leak could have happened. This isn’t just a bootleg from someone’s cell phone. This was a DVD Quality rip that wasn’t even the version of the film we’ll see in theaters.
Roger Friedman Fired for Reviewing Illegal Download of Wolverine
File this under Idiot of the Week. FoxNews freelance columnist for Fox 411 on Foxnews.com has reportedly been FIRED for writing about illegally downloading the Wolverine workprint and reviewing it.
Wolverine Workprint Leaked Online
An early “Workprint” of X-Men Origins: Wolverine has leaked online. Now, however you feel about this type of thing, there is one positive. It’s actually getting some good buzz!
Here’s what some comments on Slashfilm are saying:
- I JUST SAW IT! And dammit I am gonna pay to see that movie again!
- It was actually good, not perfect, but good. I want to see it in theaters with everything polished up and to see if there is different footage.
- In my opinion it is worth the ticket price from what I saw. Trust me.
- its real i watched it and its pretty good, i got questions about deadpool though!
- I just finished watching and I have to say, count me in. Movie is entertaining and it’s way better than X-Men 3 (thank you Brett Fuckitupner).
So, I’m actually looking forward to seeing this in the theaters. Looks like Fox could have a hit on their hands. We’ll see on May 1st.

geekArticle! Shedding some light on Deadpool
When I heard that Ryan Reynolds was going to play Deadpool in the new X-Men Origins: Woverine movie, I shouted out many a “WTF?”
Don’t get me wrong, I’m somewhat of a Ryan Reynolds fan. In fact, I think he needs to be in more, better movies. Then I heard he was playing Deadpool in the new X-Men flick and that one of the weirdest casting choices for a comic book character I’d ever heard of. (OK…Ben Affleck was Daredevil….not as weird as that).
Anyway, Robert Fure from Film School Rejects wrote a pretty cool piece on Deadpool. Figured I’d share…X-Men Origins Wolverine: Solving the Deadpool Mystery
New Wolverine Trailer inspired by Michael Bay?
I propose a new drinking game for X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Every time you see an explosion, take a shot of your favorite beverage. Try this with this new trailer, you’ll have a good buzz going within 2 and a half minutes. The explosion factor is rivaling that of a Michael Bay movie, and may cause alcohol poisoning if this game is applied to most of his films.
The jury’s still out if I am looking forward to this or not. After X-Men 3, there’s still a bitter taste in my mouth. While this trailer makes X-Men Origins: Wolverinee look like a fun, dumb 80’s action flick, it may just be drinking game fodder in the future. We shall see.
Most Anticipated Movies of 2009 (part 2)
These are more of my most anticipated movies of 2009.
X-Men Orgins: Wolverine
After Brett Ratner ran X-men into the ground with X-men 3, hopefully this will breathe new life into what we all loved about the first 2 X-men flicks.
Hugh Jackman reprises the role that made him a superstar – as the fierce fighting machine who possesses amazing healing powers, retractable claws and a primal fury. Leading up to the events of X-Men, X-Men Origins: Wolverine tells the story of Wolverine’s epically violent and romantic past, his complex relationship with Victor Creed, and the ominous Weapon X program. Along the way, Wolverine encounters many mutants, both familiar and new, including surprise appearances by several legends of the X-Men universe whose appearances in the film series have long been anticipated.
The Wrestler
This is in Limited Release this month, but will be released wide in January. Can’t believe Mickey Rourke may be up for an Oscar!
Back in the late ’80s, Randy “The Ram Robinson” (Mickey Rourke) was a headlining professional wrestler. Now, twenty years later, he ekes out a living performing for handfuls of diehard wrestling fans in high school gyms and community centers around New Jersey.
Estranged from his daughter (Evan Rachel Wood) and unable to sustain any real relationships, Randy lives for the thrill of the show and the adoration of his fans. However, a heart attack forces him into retirement. As his sense of identity starts to slip away, he begins to evaluate the state of his life — trying to reconnect with his daughter, and strikes up a blossoming romance with an aging stripper (Marisa Tomei). Yet all this cannot compare to the allure of the ring and passion for his art, which threatens to pull Randy “The Ram” back into his world of wrestling.
Director Darren Aronofsky presents a powerful portrait of a battered dreamer, who despite himself and the odds stacked against him, lives to be a hero once again in the only place he considers home inside the ring.
The Unborn
This movie looks messed up, but interesting. Nothing like scary, evil ghost kids.
Sometimes the soul of a dead person has been so tainted with evil that it is denied entrance to heaven. It must endlessly wander the borderlands between worlds, desperately searching for a new body to inhabit.
And sometimes it actually succeeds.
Writer/director David Goyer (Blade: Trinity, The Invisible, Batman Begins) gives a terrifying glimpse into the life of the undead in The Unborn, a supernatural thriller that follows a young woman pulled into a world of nightmares when a demonic spirit haunts her and threatens everyone she loves.
Casey Beldon (Odette Yustman) hated her mother for leaving her as a child. But when inexplicable things start to happen, Casey begins to understand why she left. Plagued by merciless dreams and a tortured ghost that haunts her waking hours, she must turn to the only spiritual advisor, Sendak (Gary Oldman), who can make it stop.
With Sendak’s help, Casey uncovers the source of a family curse dating back to Nazi Germany—a creature with the ability to inhabit anyone or anything that is getting stronger with each possession. With the curse unleashed, her only chance at survival is to shut a doorway from beyond our world that has been pried open by someone who was never born.
Dead Snow (aka Død Snø)
Nothing like a Norweigan horror flick about Nazi Zombies!
A group of eight friends drives to a cabin in northern Norway where German troops where slaughtered by angry locals living there in 1945. Now the undead zombie Nazi soldiers feast on whoever comes there way.
